Dr. Erwan Debuc – Chief Medical Officer of HFH Brings Modern Clinical Thinking to Students of the French-language Program at K Medical University

As part of the collaboration between K (HFH) and K Medical University, Dr. Erwan Debuc – Chief Medical Officer of HFH – delivered a lecture to students of the French-language Program.
The session, titled “Common Conditions – Pitfalls and Reasoning in Emergency Medicine”, was held in an enthusiastic and dynamic atmosphere, thanks to a practical teaching approach aimed at helping students develop analytical thinking in diagnostics and effective clinical judgment in emergency situations.
With extensive experience in emergency medicine, Dr. Debuc designed a learning environment closely aligned with real-life scenarios. By presenting clinical cases involving a variety of ages, genders, medical histories, and symptoms, he encouraged students to cultivate reasoning, critical thinking, and active inquiry.
In addition, Dr. Debuc emphasized the importance of proactive learning – beyond classroom knowledge, students were encouraged to read more external material and actively explore medical topics to broaden their understanding and improve their professional competence.
The session took place in a lively and engaging atmosphere, with enthusiastic participation from the students, reflecting their eagerness to learn and excitement about the insights shared by an experienced international expert.
Nguyen Lam Minh Duc, a third-year student in class Y3, YK4, shared: "Dr. Debuc gave us a new perspective on how to approach patients clinically, especially in emergency situations. Instead of focusing solely on immediate symptoms, we need to delve into underlying conditions and develop clinical reasoning skills. The session was very understandable and useful. I also hoped to learn more medical terms, improve communication in French, and most importantly, absorb the valuable knowledge that he shared with us."
Dr. Debuc is a prominent Emergency Medicine practitioner and healthcare expert who initially trained in Paris. He has held numerous leadership positions at prestigious healthcare institutions worldwide, including: Emergency doctor at Jean Verdier Hospital; Medical Director for Emergency care, Saint Antoine University Hospital; Medical Director for all Emergency, unscheduled care within the APHP network, responsible for the management and coordination of 17 adult and 8 pediatric Emergency Departments, as well as the ‘SAMU’ (Service d'Aide Médicale Urgente) and ‘SMUR’ (Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Service) operations for all of Paris. Dr. Debuc also acted as an expert for various regional and ministerial administration with regards to all aspects of the unscheduled and emergency medical care reform and with the Ministry of Health on the reform of emergency financing.
While Dr. Debuc took on managerial responsibilities since 2012, he also continued working as clinician at the Emergency Department of CHU St Antoine, as well as take on various teaching assignments, among others at the Faculty of Sorbonne University, the University of Paris VI and the medical faculty Cochin at Paris V.
Currently serving as the General Director and Chief Medical Officer of K, he brings deep professional and administrative expertise, supporting the hospital team in sustainable and effective development in line with international standards.
Dr. Debuc’s teaching activities are part of HFH’s ongoing commitment to contribute to medical education in Vietnam, providing students with opportunities to access modern, practice-oriented medicine aligned with international standards.
